Ait Ben Haddou is one of Morocco’s most well-preserved and stunning kasbahs. It resembles a collection of smaller kasbahs grouped together. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a fortified hilltop village from the 14th century. It lies along the ancient caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara. Ait Ben Haddou has been featured in countless films. Over time, a modern village has grown around this historic structure.
Our day trip to Ait Ben Haddou starts at 09:00 from Marrakech. We’ll travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka Pass, reaching 2,260 meters in elevation. Along the way, you’ll see breathtaking mountain peaks and charming Berber villages. Upon arrival, you’ll explore the UNESCO-listed Ksar and its enchanting kasbahs. The site is especially stunning at sunrise or sunset, offering a magical atmosphere. You can also stroll along the river, enjoy the scenic views, and discover the remains of the ancient fortified granary.
Next, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” It’s a hub for Sahara desert tourism in southern Morocco. Here, you’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah, a beautiful example of traditional Moroccan architecture. The entrance fee is 2 euros or 20 dirhams per person. In the late afternoon, we’ll return to Marrakech, ending this memorable day trip.

Don’t miss a visit to the Atlas Film Studios, where you can explore filming equipment and learn about famous productions like Game of Thrones, Vikings, Prison Break, The Mummy, and Lawrence of Arabia.
